Tax Compliance

Tax returns and BAS's are either a necessary evil or an opportunity. When they land on your desk to add to everything else they will inevitably become a chore. However, when prepared for, they provide an opportunity for you to review your expenses and find where savings can be made.
Tax returns for incorporated and unincorporated businesses must be prepared annually and filed with the Australian Taxation Office. This snapshot of your business can prompt a number of questions - the answers to which could save you money: if you run an unincorporated business, would it make sense to incorporate? When profits are being paid out, should this be done by way of a bonus or dividends?
BAS returns, although more frequent, can also provide opportunities for review and savings: Could you improve your cash flow by accounting for GST on a cash basis? Or, if you are purchasing a building, has the contract been correctly completed and reviewed for the effect of GST on the transaction and if so are you prepared for the cash flow implications of this?
Joe Walsh & Associates can work with you to reduce the financial and workload burdens of tax and GST. By alerting you to, and preparing your accounts for those key dates in the diary, Joe Walsh & Associates can make running your business seem considerably easier.

Taxation is complex. And there are times when you need more than simply having a tax return completed.

You may be contemplating a major transaction, looking to structure your business to maximise your taxation position, unsure of the right tax treatment of a transaction, in the middle of a taxation dispute or seeking advice to try and avoid a dispute. Whatever the reason there are times when you need specialist tax advice.

Year end compliance requirements; Capital Gains Tax, GST, Fringe Benefits Tax, Superannuation, the Simplified Tax System - there are thousands of pages of legislation and a myriad of traps that you can get caught in, if you don't get it right the first time.

You may be looking for some specific advice or simply want to talk to someone about your tax planning options. Our tax advisers are trained not only to know what the legislation says but to be able to explain what it means.

If you need advice on a taxation issue, then contact us and talk to one of our team members today.
